Red Hat, Wipro partnership to deliver open source platforms across India

Red Hat has announced that Wipro has become the first Red Hat Premier Partner in India. The two companies have also strengthened their strategic partnership through joint marketing and integration opportunities designed to bring open source solutions to enterprises across the subcontinent. 

Both organizations plan to collaborate in building integrated solutions on Red Hat technologies through joint investments in Wipro’s Centre of Excellence in Bangalore. The objective is to build frameworks and platforms which can be readily replicated and customised by architects and developers to create solutions for industry verticals including telecommunications, banking, financial services, insurance, government, defence and utilities industries. 

The partnership gives customers in India the choice to evaluate, select and use a complete open source solution stack backed by solution and support from Red Hat, with implementation, delivery and support services from Wipro.

The alliance will also enable Wipro to better serve customers that are seeking to virtualize their environments, deploy supported open source middleware for their applications, leverage cloud computing, enable SOA within their business processes and migrate from proprietary to an open source environment.

With this collaboration, Wipro will be able to offer cost-efficient, reliable, secure and scalable solutions built around open source platforms, to its customers. Wipro also plans to offer application services, migration and upgrade services, desktop services and enterprise management services to its customers as well as consulting resources to choose solutions that enable optimal performance, improve productivity and time to market and deliver a tangible return on investment.

One of the key projects executed jointly by Wipro and Red Hat has been at the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). Wipro has been selected to implement ESIC's Project Panchdeep which is aimed at improving healthcare services to its beneficiaries. The solution from Wipro is a completely on the Open Source Stack and has been deployed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux leveraging the integrated virtualization and clustering.
