Propelling growth for mid-sized firms - Why IT Efficiency matters
By Raymond Boggs, Vice President, SMB and Home Office Research IDC | Dec 14, 2011
Midsized firms no longer need to be trapped in a productivity rut with this step-by-step guide to virtualize and consolidate their IT infrastructure.
In a survey of 688 midsized firms, IDC found that spending on new resources was only about 25 percent of total IT spending, with the rest going towards a variety of day-to-day maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, updating and general upkeep of the IT infrastructure. Many midsized firms are caught in a paradox - they are too big to focus spending on new initiatives and too small to realize the full benefits of new IT investments.
"IT Infrastructure Efficiency in Midsized Firms through Virtualization and Consolidation: Key Steps for Success", a white paper by Raymond Boggs, Vice President, SMB and Home Office Research IDC, discusses how virtualization and consolidation can help companies get out of this dilemma. With insights on the top concerns of CIOs across different markets, the paper also details the key steps for mid-sized firms looking to maximize the benefits from their virtualization and consolidation projects.
