Indosat saves on capital and time with Dimension Data's cloud services

Recognizing the opportunities presented by cloud computing, Indosat, an Indonesian integrated telecoms and data service provider, has signed an agreement with Dimension Data Indonesia, an ICT services provider, to jointly offer an end-to-end portfolio of cloud computing services to its business and consumers in Indonesia under the onecloud framework.
The onecloud is a trademark of Dimension Data Asia Pacific Pte Ltd for its suite of Internet Data Center and Cloud Services.
With the partnership, Indosat aims to position itself at the forefront of Indonesia's cloud services market by leveraging Dimension Data’s expertise in cloud technology, service delivery and service creation.
“The partnership with Dimension Data Indonesia heralds a new era for Indosat with its foray into cloud business. This will enrich our advanced services portfolio, and enables us to help large Indonesia enterprises and Small Enterprise Businesses (SMB) embark onto the cloud journey. Our collaboration, which combines Indosat’s reliable national wide connectivity backbone infrastructure and its group’s ten data centre facilities, with Dimension Data’s cloud consultancy services, will provide the first comprehensive suite of Cloud computing services in Indonesia” said Fadzri Sentosa, Chief Wholesale & Infrastructure, PT Indosat Tbk.
“We chose Dimension Data following a rigorous evaluation process. What impressed us most with Dimension Data were not just their obvious technical strengths, but their business consultancy capabilities. We're pleased that they have a stake in the success of our project for the first five years, and we hope to continue on enhancing the relationship thereafter," he added.
By partnering Dimension Data, Indosat was able to limit its up-front capital investment. Both companies will jointly run the offered services for an initial period of five years, with Indosat taking responsibility for sales, client management, and the data centre and network operations, while Dimension Data will be responsible for managing the onecloudTM services portfolio and operation, IT architecture, the cloud platform and maintaining their IT infrastructure.
The partnership will enable Indosat to launch its cloud services in a much shorter time span than would have been possible if Indosat had had to develop its own cloud infrastructure.
With Dimension Data’s experience in providing and managing cloud services for BSNL in India, PLDT in the Philippines and Hutchison Global Communications in Hong Kong, Indosat was confident in Dimension Data's ability to implement the onecloudTM framework and has entrusted the entire infrastructure implementation to the company.
