On November 2nd and 3rd, 2011, Singapore will witness the 2nd edition of France Singapore Innovation Days 2011 (FSID 2011), a platform dedicated to promote innovation for the city of tomorrow.

Ubifrance Singapore, the French Trade commission, will be the organizers of this key business event. By bringing together France’s most promising start-ups and Singapore’s key players in innovation and investment, it aims to foster partnership synergies through sharing and networking.

To this end, more than 20 French companies and institutions will visit Singapore for two days of seminars, workshops, round table discussions and customized meetings.

The city of tomorrow has to create a sustainable space incorporating several dimensions: a sound transportation network, a good level of digital services, the availability of natural resources, the development of ‘smart’ buildings, the creation of  human and social capital, the provision of cultural events and a balanced quality of life, as well as the participation of citizens in the governance of cities.

With these factors to consider and more, the development of the city of the future presents a complex challenge against a background of competition and it will involve each individual. Each city has, of course, its own historical assets. Nonetheless, a city which does not make any effort to modernize, might no longer attract new talent. Such a city would, slowly but surely, decline.

Participants in FSID 2011, will meet with:

A. IT Cluster and institutions:

      -  EUROMEDITERRANNEE: Launched more than a decade ago, Euroméditerranee, a 7-billioneuro operation, is supported by the French government, local authorities and the European Union, to redevelop a 480-hectare site within the heart of the city. Its aim is to boost Marseille as an attractive and influential hub, connecting Europe and the Mediterranean. Euroméditerranee manages infrastructure and public spaces, as well as offices, housing, businesses, hotels, and projects concerning cultural and leisure facilities.

    * PACA MARINE COMPETITIVITY CENTER: The PACA Marine Competitiveness Center aims to become a global benchmark for excellence in sustainable development and safety in the Mediterranean.

     * SECURED COMMUNICATION SOLUTIONS: A world-class cluster which consolidates key players in microelectronics, telecommunications, software and multimedia in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It symbolizes a dynamic network of more than 260 companies (small and medium enterprises and big groups), laboratories and training centers, substantially involved in innovative projects. Our ambition is to design and to develop new solutions integrating components, networks, software and systems to exchange and process information in a reliable and secure manner.

    * CLUSTER LUMIERE: The French lighting cluster is a group of more than 120 companies, including laboratories, manufacturers, engineers, lighting installers and designers. The value-add is the combination of these various complementary skills and expertise, with the Lyonnais touch in terms of lighting.

B ) Innovative French SMEs and big companies

Providers of connected solutions, digital media and lighting and smart buildings will explore three key areas:

1. Mobile & web-based products and services for the citizens and businesses of tomorrow (Avencall, Avob, Esker, Openways, among others).
2. 3D and animation, holograms and augmented reality, new displays and devices (Alain Guilhot Lumiere, Alioscopy, Bookbeo, Succubus Interractive, XD Productions, Xilabs, XL Render, among others).
3.Efficient, sustainable energy systems for buildings (EDF, Bouygues Construction, Schneider, Robopoils, among others).
